ITINERARY

After an early breakfast take a full-day tour of Delhi visiting the Qutub Minar (a towering 73 meter high tower built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak in 1193 to celebrate muslim dominance in Delhi after the defeat of Delhi’s last Hindu ruler), the Lotus Temple (a Baháí House of Worship notable for its white marble flower-like shape), India Gate (at the centre of New Delhi standing  42 m high “Arc-de-Triomphe” like archway in the middle of a crossroad commemorating the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army in World War 1) Nizamuddin’s Tomb  (mausoleum of the sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya (1238–1325 CE) and the Red Fort with architecture that reflects a seamless fusion of Islamic, Persian, Timurid and Hindu styles.
 
Dinner and Overnight: Hotel Rockland or equally good.
After breakfast visit Akshardham Temple that made it to the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest Hindu temple complex in the world. Visit the busy Chandni Chowk  markets  brimming with spices, dried fruit, silver jewellery,  vivid saris and  its narrow side streets crowded with tiny shops selling essential oils, stationery and traditional Indian sweets. It will be a great day for shopping with additional visits to Delhi Haat open air crafts and food market, Hauz Khas Village, one of the plushest markets in Delhi with its stylish restaurants,  cafes and stores featuring leading Indian fashion brands.  There will also be time to take in Gurudwara Bangla Saheb one of India’s most prominent  Sikh places of worship, and the financial centre of Delhi, Connaught Place.
 
Dinner and Overnight:  Hotel Rockland or equally good.
After breakfast take a flight to Khajuraho – world-famous for its temples celebrating love with historic erotic carvings.  Tour the temples after check-in and lunch and in the evening return for a stunning light and sound show in the ancient walls of these historic structures. Return to the resort for dinner and overnight stay.
Dinner and Overnight: Ramada Khajuraho or equally good.
After breakfast take a thrilling jeep safari to view tigers, deer, cheetah and a large number of rare animals and birds in the Panna Tiger National Park. This reserve spreads over 600 sq. km, and is said to be home to the largest number of tigers. We’ll also view the stunning  Raneh Waterfalls, dubbed the Grand Canyon of India by many international visitors. On return to your resort enjoy an ayurveda massage.
 
Dinner and overnight at Ramada Khajuraho or equally good.
After breakfast drive 245 km to the beautiful town of Orchha situated on River Betwa. This ancient town has  intricately carved cenotaphs of the former rulers built in the 16th and 17th centuries:  Ram Raja Temple, Chaturbhuj Temple, the Jahangir Mahal and Orchha Fort. Orchha is a charming town where you will have opportunities to talk with the locals as you enjoy a small night market, local cafes and stroll along the banks of River Betwa.
 
Overnight: Raj Mahal -The Palace or equally good.
After breakfast leave for Agra – the city of the incredible Taj Mahal and the world’s greatest monument to love. Enroute visit the iconic Fort Gwalior – a great example of military engineering. Check into your hotel at Agra.   Dinner and overnight: Radisson Blu or equally good.
Rise early, take breakfast and then travel to the breathtaking Taj Mahal, one of the most well known wonders of the world.  Surrounding waterfalls, clear blue pools and manicured gardens embrace this white marble architectural wonder – a testament to love and loss. The Taj Mahal never disappoints.
 
Before leaving Agra for the Pink City of Jaipur visit Itmad-Ud-Daulah’s Tomb, a Mughal mausoleum often described as a “jewel box”, sometimes called the “Baby Taj” and often regarded as a draft of the Taj Mahal and Sikandra, a grandiose complex famous for it being the tomb of Akbar the Great, the greatest Mughal emperor.
 
Enroute to Jaipur visit the world-famous bird sanctuary at Bharatpur followed with lunch at a lovely palace at Bharatpur.
On arriving in Jaipur be greeted by your tour operator and his wife at their boutique heritage hotel where they will host a gala dinner with bar-be-cue and unlimited drinks. The evening will be enlivened with folk music, dances and puppet shows.
Overnight:  Mahal Khandela
Early morning drive 45 km to the Samode Bagh and Palace to view exquisite fresco paintings and mirror engravings and nearby temples and cenotaphs. Enjoy a brunch at the palace before returning to Jaipur. In the afternoon relax and enjoy a 45-minute rejuvenating massage under the supervision of a famous ayurveda doctor before preparing for a short journey to  Castle Kalwar – a 230-year old castle owned and operated by a scion of the royal family of Kalwar. He is a highly decorated general of the Indian army and a great host. Enjoy bar-be-cue and dinner in the beautiful environs of the castle before driving back to Jaipur for overnight stay.
 
Overnight:  Mahal Khandela
After breakfast take an excursion to forts of Amber, Jaigarh and Nahargarh – a breathtaking complex situated 11 km from Jaipur city. Here climb up Fort Amber on an elephant! On return to Jaipur see the City Palace and Museum, the Albert Hall Museum, the Palace of Winds (Hawa Mahal ) and the Observatory. Take a cycle rickshaw ride through the colourful jewellers’ bazaars of Jaipur and then see the beautiful all-white marble Birla Temple. Dinner at a restaurant before returning to Mahal Khandela.
 
Overnight:  Mahal Khandela
After breakfast leave for the ancient town of Kishangarh located 110 km from Jaipur. Kishangarh is world famous for its miniature paintings collectively called Kishangarh School of Paintings. These 16th century paintings have as their theme the life of Lord Krishna.   After lunch and a visit to Fort Kishangarh take a 35-km excursion to the temple town of Pushkar. Check into Clarks Safari. In the evening see “äarti” being performed to Lord Brahma. (Aarti can be simple to extravagant, but always includes jyot (flame or light). It is performed during almost all Hindu ceremonies and occasions. It involves the circulating of an “aarti plate” or “aarti lamp” around a person or deity and is generally accompanied by the congregation singing songs in praise of that deva or person).   Overnight at the resort.
After an early breakfast leave for Udaipur – India’s most romantic city of lakes. Enroute visit Fort Chittorgarh – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a marvel of military architecture. Arrive Udaipur and check into a lake-facing hotel Mahendra Prakash or Jagat Niwas
 
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After an early breakfast take a cruise on pristine Lake Pichola. From here visit the City Palace Museum to see its amazing collection of armoury, paintings, vintage cars, carpets and other artefacts. See the Sahaelion-Ki-Bari (Garden for Maidens), a classical dance performance at Bagor-ki-haveli and take a walking tour of the colourful and throbbing bazaars in the old parts of the city.
 
Dinner and overnight at the lake-facing hotel Jagat Niwas or Mahendra Prakash.
After breakfast leave for Ranakpur – world famous for its exquisite all-white marble Jain Temple Complex. Enroute  visit the awesome Fort Kumbhalgarh – another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and lunch at Royal Kumbhalgarh Villas. Overnight at Ranakpur Safari Resort or equally good.
After breakfast visit the Jain Temple Complex most sacred to the followers of Jainism. Thereafter, depart for Jodhpur also known as the Sun City. It is said to be called the Sun City because the rulers of  Marwar were sun worshippers and the city also enjoys bright sun throughout the year. It is also called blue city because of a predominance  the blue -painted houses throughout the city. After check-in at the hotel enjoy an ayurvedic massage and relax before dinner.

Dinner and overnight  at Polo Heritage Hotel or equally good.
After breakfast visit the majestic Mehrangarh Fort and Museum  constructed around 1459 by Rajput ruler, Rao Jodha. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site sits 122 metres above the surrounding plains and covers 1200 acres housing several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards, as well as a museum housing various relics. Additionally, visit Jaswant Thada, a cenotaph in honour of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II and Umaid Bhawan Palace owned by the Maharaja of Jodhpur.
After lunch visit the beautifully laid out Mandore Gardens and in the evening take a walking tour through Jodhpur's  colourful old bazaars.

Dinner and overnight Polo Heritage Hotel or equally good.
After breakfast transfer to the airport to board a flight for New Delhi. At New Delhi our representative will receive and transfer you to the international airport for  your flight home. If your flight is later in the day or night our driver can drive you around Delhi for sightseeing and shopping.
